Things have been a little crazy lately. Well, not really crazy like - exciting crazy, but crazy-I-spend-a-lot-of-time-sitting-on-the-couch-nursing-Crazy...And when I'm not sitting on the couch nursing, I'm chasing my two year old who is in the throes of potty training.
I think about my art room. My blog. My ideas. My creativity. And I wonder, where did it go?! What am I doing?
The last few months I've been asking those questions about every part of my life (my body - where did it go?!) I've realized / remembered what life is like with an infant and a toddler, and I've come to the conclusion that I need to re-visit my expectations.
So...first I was thinking that I should bag all of my projects. But the idea of bagging my projects makes me feel more depressed than the pile of projects I have started or want to do does. I know that I need to have a creative outlet. It helps me to feel happy and meaningful.
So...here's the new direction, and I think that the blog will be helpful. I'm going to spend 15 minutes a day being creative - it may be by reading/critiquing a poem. It may be by fleshing out an idea. It may be by sketching. It may be by gardening, baking a new kind of bread, or teaching my children something. I don't know exactly what I'll do, but I know that I need to exercise my "creative muscles" daily...
I hope to post here about the creative adventures I (want) to have. If anything, posting regularly will make me be accountable.

A Commission
Recently a friend of mine asked me to make a painting...here it is.
Brandon Flowers
The quality of the photo isn't great. In real life the colors are better, but I'm not really the best photographer, and I didn't have the patience to wait until there was better light, but you get the idea.
I was just excited to be commissioned to make a painting...fun!

who asked for this? I want to be friends with them. I just discovered The Killers a couple years ago and they are currently falling just short of my love for U2---which is more of an obsession than a love, I guess...you get the idea.
one of pete's friends asked. Well, my friends, too - but through Pete. And yes, they are awesome.
And...yeah, dude. The Killers are pretty rad. :)
